This game is trying to make a unique gameplay experience "based" on a game many other us know and loved. It's not trying to make the character's from smash. I didn't finish reading it but I was over half way.Īlright well, it sounds like you want this character to play like a character from smash. Originally posted by Zeedy:Wow that was way too long. She has trouble approaching (even with f-tilt, which leaves her in lag and can be punished easily), can't deal with pressure at all, and struggles to even hit her opponents do to her aerial game being drastically slower than anyone else. So far I feel like Absa has potential, but she's got some serious problems. It's pretty cool that she can act out of grounded up-b to get out of a few situations, but with it's start up, it's still not so useful defensively.

It's a little weird though, since Up-Bing different directions doesn't turn her around like it would if you were playing Pika in Smash.

Her recovery is pretty great, in fact it might be the best in the game. I really hope her dash dance is extended so that she can have chances to use her amazing punish game. It's super short and she can't get any mileage using it whatsoever. This means she has trouble baiting approaches and moving around in general. This makes the move awkward to use and it feels like it should connect half the times it doesn't.Ībsa has a terrible dash dance. Instead of two hitboxes on both sides of it, there's just one single on in the middle. In general, Absa has unintuitive hitboxes - they don't match their animations well at all. Nair's hitboxes don't come out until 9 frames after the button press, her nair is a single repeating hitbox (instead of multiple ones similar to Lucas' in PM - )Ī lot of her other aerials seem to come out around frame 9, like dair, making it hard to use in exchanges. Why, oh why, does Absa have a 5 frame jumpsquat? With a potential to have some of the best aerial combos in the game, she struggles to get into the air, and even when she does, her aerials come out rather late.Ībsa's aerial timing feels really wonky. Run in Nair with charge down-b is one of Absa's best killing approaches at later percents, and it sucks that you can't have the cloud out to do it. No matter how many times I've tried it, I can't mix up my down-bs. For instance, if your cloud is out AT ALL, and you want to charge your down-b on yourself, it won't work. low to the ground aerials are impossible, and that really sucks.Ībsa has a few other issues. It's better to just short hop and aerial. Pressing X -> X-> A for DJC Nairs (Using Controller/Smash terms here) results in the double jump sound playing and you being stuck to the floor for a second. They just don't work like Ness/Lucas' do in Melee/PM. After playing her for awhile, I'm not so keen on her design/gameplay.įirst off, her DJCs (Double Jump Cancels) are completely broken. As a Ness main since 64, it's easy to say I'm really excited for her inclusion.
